Commissions
We would be happy to discuss and explore any ideas you have. Types of previous commissions are shown below but new styles and ideas are always welcome! Paintings can be adapted to your requirements in size, colour scheme and framing options (or unframed). If the painting is to be representative from photographic source material, the quality of the original photograph can make all the difference – but we are always happy to work with you and whatever references you have.

Available Media
Paintings can be any size, orientation and in realistic or adapted colour schemes, painted directly from your source photograph. Backgrounds are adjustable and can be edited where necessary e.g. removing objects or simplifying for effect; or reproduced accurately.
Available media is oil, acrylic or pastels
Pastels
Pastel paintings will be on a specialist paper (Castlemaine Pastelmat) and created with Panpastels, Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils and artist-grade pastel sticks. Due to the nature of pastel, it is easily smudged so it’s best to choose a framed option where it can be protected. Pastel paintings must be specially framed so that they do not come into contact with the glass. If you choose unframed, the painting will be shipped protected in glassine paper; and will require framing before display.
Oils
Oil paintings will be on stretched canvas and can be supplied and hung framed or unframed. If unframed, edges will be painted to complement the painting colour scheme. Oils are Winsor and Newton Series 1 or Daler-Rowney Georgian.
Acrylics
Acrylics can be either supplied on stretched canvas and hung framed or unframed as for oils. Again, if unframed, edges will be painted. An alternative option is to use specialist acrylic canvas paper (Winsor and Newton), which can then be framed conventionally, giving a wider range of frame options and styles. Acrylics are Winsor and Newton, using a combination of Galleria for backgrounds or underpainting large areas and their professional range acrylics for details. Additional specialist acrylics e.g. Sennelier Abstract iridescent range may be used in some circumstances.
Portraits and People
These are painted from your photograph as a reference. The photograph should ideally have a high level of detail, lots of colour and/or contrast and be in focus, especially around the main figure. Compositions with action, movement or with the subject looking into the distance work well. More examples can be found here…
Animals and Pets
These are also painted from your own photographs and the better the quality and focus of the reference, the more detail can be put into the finished artwork. Backgrounds can be changed – for example the beach here was added from a separate image, or toys etc can be added if they are not in the original photograph (if so, knowing the size of toy in relation to size of animal is very helpful!).
Another option is to choose your favourite animal and how big you would like the painting, any colour preferences or abstract elements you would like and let us do the rest. If you have a particular source image you would like used, that is fine, or we can find references instead.
