These paintings were created in 2004 for a commission for Sir Ara Darzi on behalf of the Academic Surgical Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital Paddington. They are all painted in oils and developed from the artist’s own photographic source material. Some of the paintings show the Da Vinci surgical robot – which at that time was one of the first to be used in the UK. A wall mural was also part of the commission (not shown here).
